How to Fix the 500 Internal Server for a WordPress website

There will be issue while login to wp-admin or login.php

Cause:

  1. WP core file corrupted
  2. Plugin incompatibility
  3. Unsupported theme update
  4. PHP Memory issue

Solutions

WP Core file corrupted

  1. Rename wp-admin & wp-include folder and refresh the site (will show the same)
  2. Rename back to the original name and check the site.
  3. If the problem still exists, then take a backup of the site.
  4. Download latest version of WordPress for wordpress.org
  5. Replace the existing wp-admin & wp-include folder with the latest download.
  6. Problem solved

Plugin Incompatibility

  1. Rename plugin folder and refresh the site (will show the same)
  2. Rename back to the original name and check the site.
  3. if the problem still exists
  4. Login to FTP > wp-content> plugin> rename installed plugin folder one by one and check the site
  5. If the problem still exists then need to try another method.

Unsupported Theme Update

  1. Rename theme folder and refresh the site (will show the same)
  2. Check the latest update of the theme and replace installed theme

PHP Memory Issue

For this issue, we have to contact the hosting provider to increase the PHP memory limit. we need at least  128Mb

If the problem still exists then we have to install the fresh copy of WP.
